If you have applied for a residence permit in Chile, and your application does not meet the legal requirements, the National Migration Service (Servicio Nacional de Migraciones) will notify you by email of a Resolution of the title “Incomplete or insufficient application. Grants time to submit documents” (Solicitud incompleta o insuficiente – Otorga plazo para remitir antecedentes), which will indicate the documents you must attach and the reason why they are requested again (e.g.: an expired document was attached, a document was attached without apostille or legalization, etc.).

Once you receive the notification by email, you will have a maximum of 60 days to attach the documents requested by the Service, otherwise, the application will be rejected according to the provisions of article 88 No. 1 of Law 21.325. Only in case you do not have the requested document, you must attach a letter explaining the situation (carta explicativa).
